Kate Beckinsale Accuses Harvey Weinstein of Sexually Harassing Her at Age 17

Kate Beckinsale is bravely opening up about several encounters she had with Harvey Weinstein over the years.

The 44-year-old actress posted her story on Instagram, along with a photo of her as a teen.

Kate described that Harvey met her at his hotel room in London when she was 17. He was in his bathrobe, and she left “uneasy but unscathed.”

“A few years later he asked me if he had tried anything with me in that first meeting. I realized he couldn’t remember if he had assaulted me or not. I had what I thought were boundaries – I said no to him professionally many times over the years-some of which ended up with him screaming at me calling me a cunt and making threats, some of which made him laughingly tell people oh ‘Kate lives to say no to me.’ It speaks to the status quo in this business that I was aware that standing up for myself and saying no to things, while it did allow me to feel uncompromised in myself, undoubtedly harmed my career and was never something I felt supported by anyone other than my family,” Kate described.

Kate Beckinsale’s Full Statement on Harvey Weinstein

I was called to meet Harvey Weinstein at the Savoy Hotel when I was 17. I assumed it would be in a conference room which was very common. When I arrived, reception told me to go to his room . He opened the door in his bathrobe. I was incredibly naive and young and it did not cross my mind that this older ,unattractive man would expect me to have any sexual interest in him. After declining alcohol and announcing that I had school in the morning I left, uneasy but unscathed. A few years later he asked me if he had tried anything with me in that first meeting. I realized he couldn’t remember if he had assaulted me or not. I had what I thought were boundaries – I said no to him professionally many times over the years-some of which ended up with him screaming at me calling me a cunt and making threats, some of which made him laughingly tell people oh ‘Kate lives to say no to me.’ It speaks to the status quo in this business that I was aware that standing up for myself and saying no to things, while it did allow me to feel uncompromised in myself, undoubtedly harmed my career and was never something I felt supported by anyone other than my family. I would like to applaud the women who have come forward, and to pledge that we can from this create a new paradigm where producers, managers, executives and assistants and everyone who has in the past shrugged and said ‘well, that’s just Harvey /Mr X/insert name here’ will realize that we in numbers can affect real change. For every moment like this there have been thousands where a vulnerable person has confided outrageous unprofessional behavior and found they have no recourse, due to an atmosphere of fear that it seems almost everyone has been living in. I had a male friend who, based on my experience, warned a young actress who said she was going to dinner with Harvey to be careful. He received a phone call the next day saying he would never work in another Miramax film; the girl was already sleeping with Harvey and had told him that my friend had warned her off.Let’s stop allowing our young women to be sexual cannon fodder, and let’s remember that Harvey is an emblem of a system that is sick, and that we have work to do.

I have complicated feelings about these women coming forward -
on the one hand “blaming the victim” is wrong but on the other hand if they had spoken up once they really made it (like Paltrow or Jolie) they might have prevented a lot of women being mistreated in the same way.

  • Koos

this is just as fake s=as bill cosbus accuusations!!

  • Cool Boots

That man is a pig! A ugly pig!

  • greppinwolf

So then completely true? Glad you understand. Because there are actual tapes of Cosby admitting his rapist ways in legal depositions. Only thing that saved Cosby was the statue of limitations for charges to be filed.

  • greppinwolf

There were a few people who spoke up over the years. They got shut out. That teaches the victims to keep their mouths shut. There were also multiple settled civil cases. The fact that this case broke at all to the general public is amazing after he has successfully intimidated everyone else. I don’t know what you don’t get about that — if HW could shutdown multiple news organisations over 30 years and quiet individuals, why do you think suddenly a single accuser would make a dent when he was most powerful? This only worked because HW is in declining power and the NYT was finally able to publish a story (and the NYT had shut one down years ago about the same thing.) People are being naive about how the world works.

Better late than never…you cannot judge these women til you are in their shoes…this stuff is rampant in the industry..very hard to go against a powerful person..but it takes one voice from someone who has nothing to lose to help let the other voices speak out.

  • Elvisfan Harb

How false is it when he says he made mistakes and begs for a second chance….loool

  • Kat

I agree if only one woman spoke up back than the same thing as today would have happen. They kept quiet because they were scared for their career I get it but that doesn’t feel right to me but I haven’t been into a position like that.

This is going to be an SVU episode alright the writers must be working on it as of right now.

Well said! and shame on that girl who told on the man who warned her…

  • FerCat

Nope. This is like the Vatican hiding child sexual abuse cases level of insanity. This requires a story arc.

  • parisjok

    she can’t even act

she had no business going into a hotel room where she was suppose to meet some dude old enough to be her dad all by herself!!! at that age if she did not have an older person to look out for her well being in those type of situations she should have passed on it.

I keep reading all of these stories but these young girls just had no business what so ever putting them selves in harms way by being in a hotel room all by them selves with these much much older men who really only have one thing on their minds.

not blaming them but u have to be professional and never forget how all these creepy nasty men will pretty much do anything to be with very young females

  • bitchmagician

your opinion doesnt matter anyway tho

  • Adeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Thank you Kate for sharing your story. I hope more brave women come forward with their experience with this fat waste of oxygen and his accomplices. I honestly believe he needs to be castrated ASAP there is no other remedy for this guy.

  • Kat

Like an american crime story ? Thats actually make sense

  • calafeast

    You’re an idiot.

  • calafeast

They may have lied about her sleeping with him so the pig could save face, but yeah, she was a retard.

  • calafeast

I bet the girl was sienna and the guy was daniel craig or ewan mcgregor.

  • FerCat

The scale is mind boggling and we know there are others like him still unnamed.

  • Kat

Sure and the pedophiles too. They think they are untouchable. He probably got the reality check after crossing someone more powerful and sleazy than him.

  • Neen

Not to say the possibility to look like an “social climber”, there’s a traditional narrative (mainly in gossips) that put women that way the industry is terrible, now I can’t watch any movie without thinking about the things people must be suffered

  • Wendy

“not blaming them but I’m blaming them”. Let’s blame the rapist, not the women.

She was NOT sexually harassed. She is cashing in. She went to his room and he was in his bathrobe. That is not sexual harassment. What a fool.
